Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:
- using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- using the GP online system: SystmOnline
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
You can also:
- email the Dispensary Team direct with your repeat medication requests: chacewater.dispensary1@nhs.net
- bring the paper form to the surgery, during opening times
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone.
If you are not already signed up to our Managed Repeat System and would like to be, please speak to a member of the reception team when you collect your medication.
Order acceptance times
– after 4.30pm the request will not be accepted until the following day
– at weekends the request will not be accepted until the following Monday
Collecting your prescription
You can usually collect your prescription from the pharmacy 4 full working days after you have ordered it.
- Any orders placed over a bank holiday weekend, including the bank holiday Monday, will not be available until after 12pm on Friday of that week.
We are a Dispensing Practice
Patients may select for us to send their prescriptions electronically to a chemist of their choice or take a paper prescription to another chemist if they wish. Please speak to a member of the dispensary team to arrange this.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- at your GP practice
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- phone our dispensary team between 9am to 1pm on 01872 560346 (Chacewater Surgery) or 01872 562200 (Devoran Surgery)
Prescription delivery service
This service is for repeat prescriptions only and is provided for patients who are housebound and have difficulty collecting their prescriptions from the Surgery.
Please note:
– We require a weeks notice for the delivery.
– You are required to sign for your prescription when it is delivered so it is important for you or your representative to be at home. If this is not possible you can arrange for a neighbour to accept your prescription, but please notify the Surgery in advance of the alternative address so the correct details are printed on the driver’s delivery sheet.
– If you are not at home when the driver calls your prescription will be returned to Chacewater Surgery. In this event please call 01872 560346 (Chacewater Surgery) or 01872 562200 (Devoran Surgery) to arrange for a representative to collect on your behalf.
This takes place every Thursday between 9am and 3pm. This may be earlier or later at times of high numbers of deliveries and the patient or representative must be available to accept the delivery.
- Medicines cannot be left or posted through the letterbox.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private consultation room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff without being overheard.
